Team & Account
Forge MRP has two separate areas for people management: Team (company-wide, managed by admins) and Account (personal settings for your own login).
Team Management
Getting There
Go to Settings > Team from the sidebar.
Note: You need the settings.team permission to manage team members and roles. The company owner always has this permission.
Adding a Team Member
- Click Add Member.
- Enter the person's name, email, and assign a role.
- Click Save.
Forge creates an account for the new member and sends them an invitation email. The invitation includes a link to accept and set up their password. Until they accept, their status shows as Invited.
You can resend the invitation if the original email was missed -- click Resend Invite in the member's row.
Roles and Permissions
Roles control what each team member can see and do. Forge comes with default roles:
| Role | Typical Access | |------|---------------| | Admin | Full access to everything. | | Estimator | Quotes, jobs, purchasing, clients, suppliers, inventory. | | Supervisor | Jobs, production, timesheets, purchasing (view), inventory. | | Operator | Jobs (view), production, inventory (view). | | QC Inspector | Jobs (view), production (view), inventory (view), inspections. |
You can create custom roles with any combination of permissions:
- In the Roles section, click Add Role.
- Give the role a name.
- Check the permissions you want to grant. Permissions are grouped by area (Quotes, Jobs, Production, Purchasing, etc.).
- Click Save.
To edit an existing role, click the pencil icon on the role card. To delete a custom role, click the trash icon. Default roles cannot be deleted.
Note: You cannot delete a role that has team members assigned to it. Reassign those members to a different role first.
Changing a Member's Role
Use the role dropdown in the team member's row to switch their role. The change takes effect immediately.
Deactivating a Team Member
If someone leaves your team, you can deactivate their account:
- Click Deactivate next to their name.
- Confirm the action.
Deactivated members can no longer log in. Their data and history are preserved. You can reactivate them later if needed.
The company owner cannot be deactivated, and you cannot deactivate your own account.
Account Settings
Account settings are personal to your login. Every user can access these regardless of their role.
Preferences
Go to Account > Preferences.
- Display name -- your name as it appears to other team members. Changes save automatically when you leave the field.
- Unit system -- choose between Imperial (inches, pounds) and Metric (millimeters, kilograms). This affects material dimensions throughout the app.
- Language -- switch the interface between English and French. The page reloads to apply the change.
- Onboarding guide -- toggle the onboarding checklist on or off on your dashboard. Re-enable it here if you dismissed it early.
Notifications
Go to Account > Notifications.
Configure which email notifications you receive:
- RFQ response received -- get an email when a supplier submits a response to your RFQ.
- Work order assigned -- get an email when a work order is assigned to you.
Toggle each notification on or off. You only see notifications relevant to your role's permissions.
Security
Go to Account > Security.
- Change email -- enter a new email address. You'll receive a confirmation link at the new address before the change takes effect.
- Change password -- enter a new password (minimum 8 characters) and confirm it.
- Sign out everywhere -- signs you out of all devices and sessions at once.
